As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations and the Silver Jubilee Year of St Raymond’s PU College, Vamanjoor, a life-saving initiative was organized by Jeevandhara Social Service Trust ®, Kulshekar on 15th August 2025 within the college premises. Blood Donation and Health Camp was held in collaboration with the NSS and Rovers & Rangers Units of the college, and the Lions Club, Kavoor, with active medical partnership from Father Muller’s Hospital, Mangalore.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song rendered by the college choir under the guidance of Mrs. Anitha Ferrao, setting a serene and reverent tone for the day. The inauguration ceremony was led by Rev Sr Flavia Wilma BS, alongside other dignitaries, by lighting the traditional Diya to officially launch the camp.
Presiding over the event, Rev Sr Flavia Wilma BS, Secretary of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust®, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the vital role of youth in fostering a compassionate society. She stated, “Donating blood is more than a medical act – it is a pledge of humanity, a conscious choice to give someone the gift of life. Each drop of blood carries with it the power to heal, to renew, and to inspire hope.” She urged the students to embody the spirit of service in every aspect of their lives.
The Chief Guest, Lion Jagadeesh K, Secretary of the Lions Club, Kavoor, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of regular, voluntary blood donation. He remarked, “In times of need, nothing can replace human blood. It cannot be manufactured, stored indefinitely, or bought – it must come from the kindness of donors. When you donate, you are not only saving lives, but also strengthening the very fabric of our society.” He encouraged the youth to become lifelong donors and health advocates.
The Health Camp offered a variety of services including Blood Donation, OBG Consultations, ECG tests, and Blood Pressure and General Health Check-ups. Approximately 185 individuals from the local community benefited from the initiative, reflecting the event’s success in promoting both health and humanitarian values.
This noble event stands as a testimony to Jeevandhara Social Service Trust ® commitment to social responsibility and the well-being of the community, truly embodying the spirit of Independence Day and the legacy of service.
