St Raymond English Medium Primary and High School – Vamanjoor held POCSO awareness programme on 16.10.2025
Main Objective of the session was to educate student about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences ( POCSO) the Act is gender-neutral, recognizing that both boys and girls can be victims of sexual abuse. The act prohibits using children in pornographic content including creation possession and dissemination. The act mandates a child friendly approach during the recording of statements and trial.
Students were educated on the difference between safe and unsafe touch and encourages to speak up if they feel uncomfortable. Sr Ilene discussed the importance of trusted adults, and how children can approach teachers, parents or guardians when in trouble. However, effective implementation awareness, and support services are essential to ensure justice for victims and prevent future crimes. An interactive Q&A session helped clarity doubts and empowered students to be more aware of their surroundings.
