Superior General’s Delegate grace Jeevandhara Social Service Trust

On Thursday, 20th October, Jeevandhara Social Service Trust had the joy of welcoming Sr Mariette BS, the Delegate of the Superior General and General Councillor, and Sr Violet DSouza, the Procurator General, for an interactive and inspiring visit.

A total of 25 trainees of the tailoring class were present, along with their tailoring teacher Mrs Veena. The gathering was also graced by Sr Reena Toras, the Superior of Santa Cruz Convent, Kulshekar; Sr Ilene Joy, the Social Coordinator of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, Sr Benita the Tailoring Trainer and Mrs Rekha the Social Worker.

The programme began with a prayer song, invoking God’s blessings on all present. Sr Ilene Joy extended a warm welcome to the visiting sisters through a symbolic gesture of welcome. The trainees added colour and joy to the event by performing a lively dance and sharing their experiences—expressing their gratitude for the support they have received from Jeevandhara in their journey toward self-reliance.

Addressing the trainees, Sr Mariette congratulated the women for choosing to train at Jeevandhara and encouraged them to continue developing their tailoring skills. She motivated them to confidently begin their own work—whether from home, in their communities, or in shops and malls—and to strive towards becoming economically independent. She further urged them to encourage other women to join skill-training programmes.

Sr Mariette also appreciated the dedicated staff of Jeevandhara for reaching out to the needy, especially women and children. She emphasized the importance of forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and introduced them to various government schemes and facilities available for women’s empowerment. Mrs Veena thanked everyone with a grateful heart.
