The Vanamahotsava celebration at Sacred Heart’s Higher Primary English Medium School, Kulshekar, was held in collaboration with Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, Kulshekar, with the aim of promoting environmental awareness, sustainable living, and the importance of greenery in our lives.
As part of the program, Jeevandhara Social Service Trust Sr Wilma Mathew the Coordinator of Jeevandhara distributed various vegetable seeds to the children of the school. She also told about the importance of growing vegetables and making home garden. This initiative encouraged students to cultivate vegetables at home, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature and self-sufficiency.
Mrs Rekha the animator, Mrs Nirmala Pinto (teacher) and 50 students were present for the program.
In honour of Vanamahotsava, vegetable seeds were also distributed to all members of the Shanthi Self Help Group, Kulshekar. This gesture strengthened community ties and empowered women by promoting kitchen gardening and sustainable practices.
The seed distribution inspired children to actively participate in gardening, instilling environmental values at a young age.
The Vanamahotsava celebration was a meaningful step towards nurturing environmental consciousness among students and the local community. By distributing vegetable seeds, the organizers not only promoted greenery but also encouraged sustainable living practices.
