Bethany English Medium CBSE School, Gurpur, in collaboration with Jeevandhara Social Service Trust celebrated Vanamahotsava and World Environment day on July 9th 2026 with the objective of creating environmental awareness among students and encouraging them to grow their own vegetables.
As part of the programme, more than 200 students were provided with vegetable seeds by Jeevandhara Social Service Trust. Addressing the gathering, Sr. Wilma Matthew, Coordinator of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, encouraged the students to sow the seeds in their homes, nurture the plants with care, and experience the joy and responsibility of growing their own vegetables. She emphasized that every small step towards protecting nature contributes to a healthier environment and a greener future.
The programme was graced by Sr. Jacintha D’Souza Principal of Bethany English Medium CBSE School, Sr. Reena Juliet, Vice Principal, Mrs. Rekha, Animator of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, and four MSW students from St. Aloysius College, who actively participated in the event. Teachers and students of the school were also present and extended their wholehearted support to make the programme a meaningful success.
The Vanamahotsava celebration concluded with a renewed commitment from the students to plant the seeds, care for them responsibly, and contribute towards environmental conservation through sustainable practices.
