Jeevandhara Social Service Trust in collaboration with Sacred Heart’s English Medium school Kulshekar conducted an awareness programme on Human Trafficking and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for the students of Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar.
Sr. Wilma Matthew, Coordinator of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust explained the growing menace of human trafficking, the various methods used by traffickers, and the importance of staying alert and protecting oneself from exploitation. She also created awareness about the POCSO Act, highlighting children’s rights, different forms of abuse, safety measures, and the importance of reporting any suspicious or abusive behaviour without fear.
The session was made interactive with practical examples and real-life incidents, helping the students understand the seriousness of these issues and encouraging them to be responsible, informed, and courageous.
Around 50 students actively participated in the programme. Mrs. Rekha, Animator of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, was also present and supported the smooth conduct of the awareness session. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.The awareness programme successfully empowered the students with knowledge to safeguard themselves and contribute to creating a safer society.
