Girl Child Day was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm at Infant Mary Hostel, Kulshekar, on 17 September 2026. The celebration brought together the hostel children, women from the Shanthi, Sadhana and Jeevan Jyothi Self-Help Groups.
The children warmly welcomed the women and Sr Shalet, filling the gathering with smiles and affection. The celebration became a joyful expression of the pride and happiness of being born female, while recognising the dignity, strength and contribution of women and girls.
A meaningful sharing on Ashtami, the Feast of the Nativity and Chauthi brought out the beauty of different traditions and their connection with nature, family and community. It was a beautiful moment of cultural sharing, solidarity with nature and celebration of womanhood.
Sr Shalet D’Souza appreciated the women for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them in their efforts. The celebration continued with fun games and activities, in which both the children and SHG women participated wholeheartedly. Laughter, friendship and togetherness made the occasion lively and memorable.
The spirit of giving added a special touch to the day. Books and useful items were distributed to the hostel children, bringing smiles to their faces and conveying a message of love, care and support.
The celebration was more than an event—it was a beautiful coming together of girls and women, generations and traditions. The day ended with joyful hearts and a simple reminder: every girl deserves to be valued, supported and empowered to dream and grow.
